The process of choosing candidates for the two MLC seats under the Governor’s quota has been delayed due to strained relations between Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The BRS chief is taking more time to send proposals to the Governor’s office as he does not want to take any chances after facing a bitter experience when Padi Kaushik Reddy’s name was forwarded to the Raj Bhavan. The two council members’ term has ended, and the delay is due to queries from the Governor’s office.

The BRS chief is checking the track records of leaders who don’t have any criminal cases against them. KCR is looking at the caste and religious equations for finalising the candidates. The retiring members are from Muslim and Christian minority communities, who had got two terms, and the BRS chief has promised seats to leaders from backward caste communities, mainly during the Munugode by-elections.
