Gadwal, Telangana – A group of farmers, led by BRSV State Leader and District Coordinator Kuruva Pallayya, met with the District Collector during the Prajavani public grievance program to demand urgent action against alleged corruption at local paddy procurement centers.
Pallayya accused the Congress-led government of cheating farmers across all 69 procurement centers in the district. He claimed that officials were taking more rice per bag than allowed by policy.
According to Pallayya, centers are supposed to collect 40 kg of paddy per bag, plus the weight of the bag. Instead, they’re taking 41.3 kg per bag, which is 700 grams more than permitted.
He said an empty gunny bag weighs only 580 grams, proving that the extra paddy being collected is unjustified. This amounts to nearly 2 kg per quintal being taken from farmers illegally, he alleged.
Pallayya blamed the Revanth Reddy government and local Congress leaders for the scam, saying they are profiting through fake names and improper practices.
He also claimed that BRSV members visited the Aiza mandal procurement center on May 3, 2025, and personally witnessed these violations. They reported their findings directly to the Collector.
Pallayya said that farmers who questioned these irregularities were threatened. Officials allegedly refused to give bags or weigh the produce if farmers raised concerns.
He also highlighted another problem: the government isn’t providing enough tarpaulin covers, leaving harvested paddy exposed to rain damage. He urged the administration to quickly weigh incoming paddy and arrange faster transport to mills.
In their petition, the farmers demanded a full investigation, recovery of the stolen paddy, suspension of the involved officials, and strict punishment for those running the centers.
Prominent leaders Kalugotla Madhu, Tower Maqbool, Gajula Krishna Reddy, Gopal Reddy, and several farmers including Lakshmanna, Teja, Thimmappa, Narasimhulu, Nagaraju, and Jayanna joined the protest and helped submit the complaint.
