Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has expanded its AI-powered online building approval system, BuildNow, to cover the entire Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) region. This move is expected to improve digital governance in the state.
BuildNow was already being used in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area. Now, it will also serve areas like Future City and nearby villages. The system is very fast—building plans can now be approved in just 30 seconds. In one case, a 26-floor high-rise project with six towers and an amenity block was approved in only 71 seconds.
The platform offers a single online portal where users can submit building plans and get approvals without visiting multiple offices. It combines drawing checks and application processing in one place, making the process simple and user-friendly.
The expanded services in the HMDA region include instant registration, one-window clearances, and occupancy certificates for both buildings and layouts. Since its launch in March 2025, over 500 applications have been processed through BuildNow in the GHMC area.
One of the major benefits of BuildNow is that it works without any human intervention. This helps ensure transparency and cuts down on delays and corruption.
Officials say that within the next seven days, the system will also be launched in areas under the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP). MA&UD Principal Secretary M Dana Kishore said this makes Telangana a national leader in urban development reforms.
He added that the system speeds up approvals, supports faster real estate and infrastructure growth, and removes paperwork and long queues. “This expansion reflects our commitment to tech-driven governance—making Telangana a leader in smart, transparent, and efficient administration,” said Dana Kishore.
