With the elections just six days away, there is a lot of “Cash for Vote” activity happening in the state of Hyderabad. The main political parties are offering a large sum of money and transportation to residents of Hyderabad who have their vote in other districts. They are being offered Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 to come to their Assembly segments on November 30 and vote in support of the party.

According to survey reports, the battle between the ruling BRS and the opposition Congress is a close contest in many Assembly constituencies. In order to win over voters, contestants from both parties in districts like Khammam, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, and Karimangar are directly contacting their voters in Hyderabad. They are promising transport facilities and money to those who support them in the elections.

Some contestants are even promising to address long pending issues like road development and improvement of civic amenities in their areas. It is important to note that those who reject cash for vote offers will be provided with other options to support the contestants.

The political parties have categorized the voters into two sections – the upper middle and middle classes, and the poorer sections. The middle class voters will be given transport facilities first, and if they insist, they will also receive money. The poorer sections will be offered money ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 per vote along with transport facilities. The leaders from Congress and BRS are competing with each other to woo the voters. However, the BJP is not offering money for votes.

This election is crucial as no single party is predicted to get a comfortable majority to form the government in the state. Therefore, every vote is important for the parties, and they have prepared flexible packages to lure different sections of voters.
