Hyderabad: A surprise raid conducted by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at the office of the Tahsildar & Executive Magistrate and Joint Sub-Registrar, Shamshabad Mandal turned dramatic after officials allegedly caught a Revenue Inspector attempting to dispose of cash and hide official files during the inspection.
The ACB released an official press note detailing several alleged irregularities, unaccounted cash recoveries, pending Mee Seva applications, and jurisdiction-related violations at the Shamshabad Tahsildar office.
Revenue Inspector Allegedly Tried to Hide Cash and File
According to the ACB, officials noticed suspicious behaviour during the surprise inspection when Revenue Inspector G. Krishna allegedly attempted to throw away cash and conceal an official file on the roof of a toilet.
During the inspection, ACB officials reportedly recovered:
- ₹29,650 in unaccounted cash from Revenue Inspector G. Krishna
- An allegedly concealed file hidden on the toilet roof
The unusual sequence of events quickly drew attention online, with many social media users comparing the incident to scenes from crime comedy films.
Cash Recovered From Tahsildar’s Car Dashboard
The ACB further stated that:
- ₹60,000 unaccounted cash was seized from the dashboard of the car belonging to Tahsildar K. Ravinder Dutt
- ₹10,000 was recovered from the possession of Licensed Surveyor S. Prudhviraj
Officials said the recoveries were made during the ongoing verification into allegations of gross irregularities and corrupt practices at the office.
68 Mee Seva Applications Found Pending
During the inspection, ACB officials also found serious administrative lapses.
According to the press note:
- 68 Mee Seva applications were pending beyond the prescribed time limit
- No proper personal cash register was being maintained in the office
The findings raised concerns regarding delays in public services and internal office management.
Certificates Allegedly Issued Beyond Jurisdiction
The ACB further alleged that Tahsildar K. Ravinder Dutt had issued certain certificates, proceedings, and official letters beyond his legal jurisdiction without the knowledge of higher authorities.
Officials stated that in some instances, proceedings were allegedly issued by assuming powers related to the Land Reforms Tribunal.
The preliminary verification reportedly found deviations in proceedings connected to survey numbers in:
- Shamshabad Village
- Tondpally Village
- Sathamrai Village
According to the ACB, some of these proceedings allegedly favoured private parties and caused damage to government property interests and official reputation.
ACB Says Tahsildar Acted Improperly
In its official statement, the ACB concluded that the surprise inspection revealed that the Tahsildar had allegedly:
- Acted beyond jurisdiction
- Performed duties in an improper and irregular manner
- Failed to maintain proper administrative procedures
The bureau stated that further inquiry and verification into the matter are underway.
Incident Goes Viral on Social Media
Following the release of the ACB press note, the incident quickly went viral on social media platforms, especially the allegation involving the hiding of a file on a toilet roof during the raid.
Many users expressed shock over the allegations, while others questioned the functioning of revenue offices and called for stricter monitoring of land and registration-related departments.
The Shamshabad region has witnessed massive real estate growth in recent years because of its proximity to the Hyderabad airport, ORR connectivity, logistics hubs, and expanding commercial development, making revenue and land administration offices highly sensitive.
The ACB is expected to continue detailed investigation into the matter and examine all related records and proceedings issued by the office.
