Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced ambitious plans to develop Outer Ring Roads (ORRs) for Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar corporations as part of the state’s comprehensive infrastructure overhaul. During a detailed review of the Mega Growth Corridor plans, the CM emphasized that all infrastructure development must be designed keeping the next 25 years in mind. The proposed ORRs will be strategically designed keeping the upcoming airports in these cities in focus, ensuring seamless connectivity and long-term urban planning for Telangana’s emerging urban centers.
The infrastructure blueprint includes modern amenities such as smart poles, underground drainage systems, sewage treatment plants (STPs) and renewable energy infrastructure that will follow a uniform urban model across all three cities. The CM has also proposed implementing AI-based traffic management systems and introducing EV-only leased vehicles to promote sustainable transportation. These initiatives are aimed at transforming the three corporations into smart cities with world-class facilities that can accommodate future population growth and economic expansion.
Beyond the urban corridors, the state government has outlined plans for several thematic corridors to boost tourism and regional development. A dedicated temple corridor is planned between Nalgonda and Yadagirigutta to facilitate pilgrims and devotees. Additionally, a tourism corridor has been proposed linking Adilabad, Nagoba, Basara and Kadem Project, which will showcase the cultural and natural heritage of northern Telangana. These corridors are expected to generate employment opportunities and boost local economies through increased tourist footfall.
The comprehensive corridor development plan also includes routes connecting Mahabubnagar-Bhoothpur-Jadcherla and Kothagudem-Palvoncha-Sujathanagar, ensuring balanced regional development across Telangana. These corridors will integrate industrial zones, agricultural hubs and residential areas, creating a network of economic activity centers. The projects are designed to decongest major cities while promoting satellite towns and tier-two cities as viable alternatives for investment and settlement.
CM Revanth Reddy stated that the Warangal, Karimnagar and Khammam corridor will be crucial for Telangana’s future development trajectory. He stressed that all infrastructure components must be planned with a vision for the next quarter-century to avoid short-term solutions that could become obsolete. The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the detailed project reports and ensure that the corridors incorporate the latest technology and sustainable practices to position Telangana as a leader in urban planning and infrastructure development.
