Officials from NMDC and MECON are being investigated by the CBI for allegedly demanding bribes from Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd in exchange for releasing payments for pending invoices. The CBI has filed a case against employees of both companies in connection with this issue.

According to the FIR, NMDC and MECON officials received bribes totaling over Rs 78 lakh for payments amounting to over Rs 174 crore against 73 invoices related to work at the Jagdalpur integrated steel plant. The project involved work on the intake well, pump house, and cross-country pipeline at the plant.
