CCMB hosts one-day consultative meeting in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: CSIR-CCMB organized a one-day meeting on managing aquatic biological invasions. The purpose of the meeting was to bring together experts, researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for dealing with invasive species in water.

Invasive species have caused significant economic damage in India. However, there is a lack of comprehensive data on aquatic invasive species in the country. This meeting aimed to address this issue and find effective solutions.

Dr. Rajat Kumar, chairman of Telangana biodiversity board, highlighted the need to document invasive species and understand their impact on the environment, food security, and health. He emphasized the importance of timely information in addressing these issues.

Dr. Vinay Nandicoori, director of CSIR-CCMB, expressed the impact of the meeting in bringing together collective thoughts and solutions for managing invasive species. The meeting also helped in forming a network of stakeholders committed to protecting biodiversity and improving aquaculture practices.
