Hyderabad: Several youth organizations held a protest at Secunderabad Railway Station. They were asking the Railway Board to cancel its decision to hire retired employees on a contract basis to fill vacant posts in the railways. Instead, they demanded that these jobs be given to unemployed youth.
The protestors pointed out that the unemployment rate among young people in India is very high. They said that the Central government is not doing enough to help the youth by hiring retired workers instead of giving permanent jobs to young people. They called for a new notification to be released to fill the vacant posts with unemployed youth.
DYFI State General Secretary, Anaganti Venkatesh, highlighted that there are already thousands of unfilled jobs in the railways. He added that this lack of staff is leading to more frequent railway accidents. He criticized the Central government for ignoring the rising unemployment and failing to provide job opportunities for the youth.
