Chandrababu Naidu Labels YSRCP Governance as a “Dark Era” for Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has strongly criticised the previous government led by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He referred to their rule as a “dark era” for the state.

During a Gram Sabha held in Vanapalli village of Kothapeta Mandal, in Konaseema district on Friday, Chandrababu Naidu pointed out the lack of development in villages during the YSRCP’s time in power. He stressed that for the nation to progress, development must start at the village level.

Naidu described the years between 2014 and 2019, under his own leadership, as a “golden era” for rural development. He accused the YSRCP government of neglecting village welfare and claimed that YSRCP leaders misused funds that were meant for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA). According to him, instead of using the money for the betterment of villages, the leaders filled their own pockets.

Further criticising YSRCP leader and former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu said that Jagan was more concerned with colors than with helping the poor. He reaffirmed his commitment to justice for the underprivileged, announcing plans to lay cement roads in all villages over the next five years. He also promised financial help for building cattle sheds and took responsibility for constructing homes for poor villagers.

Naidu urged the public to compare the governance of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) with that of the YSRCP. He claimed that even streetlights installed during his time in office had been stolen by YSRCP leaders. He emphasized that true development could only be achieved by completely eliminating the influence of the YSRCP. He also highlighted the increase in social pensions during his administration as a significant achievement.
