CHITTOOR: Police Solve Six-Year-Old Girl’s Murder Case

Police in Chittoor district have successfully solved the tragic case of a six-year-old girl’s murder in Punganur. The investigation revealed that financial disputes were the motive behind the crime.

Chittoor District Superintendent of Police (SP) Manikanta Chandolu explained that the girl’s father had lent Rs 3.5 lakh to a woman. When she failed to repay the loan, he threatened to take legal action, which reportedly angered her. Seeking revenge, the woman allegedly targeted the man’s daughter.

The woman, identified as Reshma, lured the child into her home by offering her food. With the help of her mother, Haseena, and a minor boy named Akhil, they suffocated the girl by covering her nose and mouth. The crime was committed when the girl was playing near her house.

After killing the girl, the suspects transported her body on a bike and dumped it in a nearby summer storage reservoir. The police confirmed that the girl was killed on the same day she went missing.

The police have arrested the three suspects involved in the murder. They also noted that there were no external injuries on the child’s body. Chittoor District Collector Sumit Kumar lauded the police for their swift investigation and arrest of the accused based on solid evidence.

However, the district collector criticized some media outlets for spreading false information and violating privacy rules. He expressed displeasure over the irresponsible reporting of the case, including the release of the child’s name and photos. He urged the media to act responsibly, especially in sensitive cases like this one.
