Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy plans to achieve the dreams of former CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy by taking on the Tummidihatti project. He promised that this would bring Godavari waters to Ranga Reddy district and parts of Mahbubnagar. The State Government is determined to finish the SLBC works to benefit the farmers soon.
During the Dr YS Rajashekhara Reddy Memorial Awards-2025 on Tuesday, the Chief Minister noted that YS Rajashekhara Reddy wanted to complete the Pranahita-Chevella project to aid state irrigation. However, the previous government moved the project from Tummidihatti to Medigadda under the guise of redesigning. The CM promised to build the project at its original site, Tummidihatti, honoring YSR’s vision.
Revanth Reddy mentioned that YSR initiated the SLBC project to combat fluoride issues in the old Nalgonda district. A 30 km tunnel section is already complete.
He assured that the government is committed to finishing the tunnel’s remaining work to help farmers in the drought-hit Nalgonda district.
Addressing the urea shortage problem, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of promoting organic farming. He urged Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka present at the event to devise a plan to encourage farmers to adopt organic methods. Revanth Reddy also mentioned YSR’s wish for Rahul Gandhi to become PM. He and Congress leader YS Sharmila are committed to making this dream a reality.
The CM reminisced about YSR’s respectful responses during budget debates when Revanth was a first-time MLA. YSR always addressed the opposition with humility.
He noted that many leaders form alliances with CMs but disappear once the CM loses power. However, KVP Ramachandra Rao maintained a lasting friendship with YSR, which stands out as exceptional and irreplaceable.
