Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is set to lay the foundation stone for Amazon’s largest data centre campus at Bharat Future City on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The landmark project represents a ₹60,000 crore investment, marking one of the biggest technology investments in Telangana’s history. The development comes as a response to critics who questioned the viability of the Future City project.
The massive investment was secured through sustained diplomatic efforts that began at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2025. During the global summit, CM Revanth Reddy obtained Amazon’s in-principle commitment for the project. The commitment was subsequently formalised through a framework agreement signed at the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025.
The state government has allotted a total of 300 acres for the project, with 202 acres allocated in Bharat Future City and an additional 98 acres in Chandanvelly. The land allocation demonstrates the government’s commitment to facilitating large-scale technology infrastructure development in the region. The project is expected to transform the area into a major technology hub.
The development will be executed in multiple phases over the coming years. The first phase of the data centre campus is scheduled for completion within 24 months. The remaining phases will be developed over the next 10 years, bringing Amazon’s total investment in Telangana to the full ₹60,000 crore commitment.
The project is expected to create thousands of jobs across various sectors and strengthen the digital infrastructure in the region. The data centre campus will position the Hyderabad Peri-Urban Region as a global technology hub, attracting further investments and technological advancement. The development is seen as a significant boost to Telangana’s economy and its standing in the technology sector.
The Amazon data centre project represents a major validation of the Bharat Future City initiative, which had faced skepticism from some quarters. The investment underscores Telangana’s growing importance as a destination for major technology infrastructure projects and its ability to attract global corporations for long-term commitments in the state.
