Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will open the new Shilpa Layout Stage-II Flyover on Saturday. This flyover, named after late Congress leader P Janardhan Reddy (PJR), connects the Outer Ring Road (ORR) with Kondapur.
The flyover, part of the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP), cost Rs 182.72 crore to construct. It measures 1.2 km in length and 24 meters in width, featuring six lanes. Unique in design, it is a third-level structure built over two existing flyovers. Below it are the Gachibowli Junction Flyover and Shilpa Layout Phase One Flyover. This new addition aims to reduce traffic problems for commuters.
Opening this flyover to the public will ease traffic entering the ORR from Kondapur, especially benefiting those heading to the IT corridor. The congestion at Gachibowli Junction will lessen, saving motorists significant time. Travelers can also reach Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad directly from Kondapur via Gachibowli without facing traffic jams.
On Friday, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, and senior engineers inspected the flyover site and nearby public meeting venue.
The commissioner mentioned that this flyover will help resolve traffic issues for people traveling to the Financial District, Madhapur, and Shamshabad.
Officials stated that this flyover will ease traffic at Gachibowli Junction by allowing free movement between the ORR and Kondapur. It will also improve connectivity between Hi-tech City and the Financial District.
The SRDP is significantly boosting Hyderabad’s infrastructure development. With this flyover, it marks the 23rd completed under the project. Out of 42 planned works, 37 are now finished.
The GHMC also communicated with railway officials to finalize the railway sections of the Falaknuma and Shastripuram ROBs within the next 2-3 months. Completing these ROBs will bring the total to 39 finished SRDP projects, allowing smoother traffic flow in the area.
