A customer at the Subway outlet in Vinayak Nagar, Gachibowli discovered a cockroach inside a food bin’s sneeze guard, raising serious concerns about hygiene standards at the popular sandwich chain. The incident, which occurred at the Gachibowli branch, has sparked outrage as the international brand promotes itself with the tagline “Eat Fresh”. The customer managed to capture photographic evidence before the staff attempted to remove the insect.
According to the customer’s account, the cockroach was spotted on a spoon inside the sneeze guard that protects food bins from contamination. When the customer attempted to photograph the unhygienic condition, a waiter quickly grabbed the spoon with the cockroach on it and rushed into the kitchen area. The staff member reportedly refused to acknowledge that the insect was indeed a cockroach, despite the customer’s clear observation.
The customer had already taken a photograph of the cockroach before the waiter removed it. Following the incident, the staff directed the customer to register a complaint through a feedback scanner positioned above the billing screen. The customer’s complaint highlights a significant gap between the brand’s promise of fresh food and the actual conditions observed at the Vinayak Nagar outlet.
The incident has raised questions about food safety protocols and hygiene maintenance at the Subway franchise in the busy Gachibowli area. The customer expressed disappointment that such a well-known international brand, which emphasizes freshness in its marketing, failed to maintain basic cleanliness standards. The photographic evidence captured by the customer serves as documentation of the unhygienic conditions at the outlet.
