The brief respite from traffic congestion at Nanal Nagar Junction has come to an abrupt end as commuters return to the city after Sankranti holidays. For the past 10-15 days, commuters enjoyed relatively peaceful and empty roads, but the situation has now reverted to the usual gridlock. The junction, which serves as a critical link for several major routes, is once again witnessing severe traffic jams during peak hours, causing significant inconvenience to daily commuters.
The narrow roads at Nanal Nagar are struggling to accommodate the massive volume of vehicles coming from Mehdipatnam, Narsingi, Suncity, Vikarabad, and Moinabad. All traffic from these areas converges at this bottleneck, creating chaotic conditions throughout the day. Adding to commuters’ woes, auto-rickshaw drivers are completely refusing to accept passengers on this route due to the severe congestion. While bridges and flyovers have been sanctioned for the area, they remain only on paper and in news reports, with no actual groundwork having commenced at the site.
Traffic police personnel are making continuous efforts to manage the flow of vehicles at the junction, but they are finding it increasingly difficult to control such heavy traffic volumes. The lack of adequate infrastructure and the sheer number of vehicles passing through the narrow stretch have made their task nearly impossible. The situation becomes particularly challenging during morning and evening rush hours when office-goers and school traffic add to the congestion.
Local residents are expressing deep concern about the future, fearing that once the long-pending flyover construction work eventually begins, the situation will deteriorate further. They worry that the construction phase could take years to complete, potentially forcing them to spend hours on the road just to reach their homes. The combination of existing traffic problems and anticipated construction-related disruptions has left the community anxious about their daily commute in the coming months.
