The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is working on improving road infrastructure in the city, especially in the south zone. In Malakpet, a new railway vent has been constructed to ease traffic congestion and water logging issues that have been causing inconvenience to commuters for years.
The local corporator mentioned that the area near the Railway under Bridge (RuB) in Malakpet has been facing heavy traffic congestion, affecting Chaderghat and Malakpet areas. The construction of the railway vent aims to alleviate these traffic problems and will soon be open for public use.
MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala recently inspected the construction works along with GHMC officers and traffic police, urging them to complete the remaining tasks promptly. The GHMC and South Central Railway have collaborated on this project to enhance traffic flow and address water logging issues under RuB.
The completion of the acquisition of properties, construction of the vent by SCR, and laying of approach roads by HRDCL have been key components of this project. A second railway vent is being added to facilitate traffic flow near Malakpet and Chaderghat, in addition to the existing one.
The bridge over the nala is 21 metres long and 12 metres wide, with approach roads covering a distance of 234.5 metres. Utility relocation, such as power lines and water pipelines, has been completed. The road construction by HRDCL is ongoing and is expected to be finished by the end of the month, according to a senior engineering officer.
