The Congress high command has adopted the ‘Telangana model’ in their manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy successfully implemented six guarantees within 100 days of coming to power in the State.
The announcement of “PaanchNyay” by Congress in the election manifesto is similar to the guarantees announced in Telangana and Karnataka during previous elections. The party aimed to attract women, farmers, and youth with these promises.
The Mahalakshmi scheme, implemented by the Congress in Telangana, focused on empowering women financially. The party also promised financial assistance to every woman in poor families and 50% reservation for women in Central government jobs.
The decision to conduct a BC caste census in Telangana set a new trend, and the party included a nationwide caste census in their manifesto. They also promised to implement the SC, ST subplan.
The Congress government granted tribal rights to cultivate their lands in forests and promised to clear all pending applications within a year. They also pledged statutory status for minimum support price for crops and a permanent farmers loan waiver commission.
The promise of implementing an employment guarantee scheme in urban areas is expected to gain support in the elections.
