The Congress Party is holding a major protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. They are pushing for the quick approval of bills passed by the Telangana state government. These bills propose increasing reservations for backward classes (BC) to 42 percent in education, jobs, and local elections. The bills are awaiting the President’s approval.
Key figures like Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and PCC President Mukesh Kumar Goud are participating. Other attendees include ministers, MLAs, MLCs, Corporation Chairmen, DCC Presidents, and leaders from BC associations. Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congress leader, is expected to join the closing event tonight.
Various parties from the India alliance are also present, such as the DMK, Left parties, Shiv Sena UBT, NCP (SP), RJD, and Samajwadi Party, showing their support. MP Kanimozhi emphasized the issue, noting, “In Tamil Nadu, 69 percent reservation is implemented. Justice should not have limits. A 50 percent cap on reservations is not justified.”
