Gadwal experienced a tragic event when lightning struck Bampuram and Pulikal villages in Aija Mandal on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of three people. This incident deeply saddened the communities.
Leaders from the Congress Party visited the victims’ families and those injured at the Gadwal District General Hospital to offer their condolences and support. Following the guidance of Dr. SA Sampath Kumar, in charge of the Alampur constituency, officials worked with the district administration to provide urgent help.
The district authorities approved a compensation of ₹6 lakh for each family who lost a loved one, along with funds for funeral costs. The families will also receive Indiramma housing units. Dr. Sampath Kumar promised educational opportunities for the children of the deceased, ensuring their schooling in Kasturba Gandhi schools or Gurukul institutions.
Those injured and receiving treatment at Kurnool Hospital were also promised financial assistance. Officials, including the RDO and MRO, visited the victims’ homes to show the government’s support.
Dr. Sampath Kumar expressed his concern over the frequent accidents caused by unseasonal rains and thunderstorms in the region. He advised farmers and residents of Gadwal district to stay alert during such weather.
Several Congress leaders, including State Official Representative Master Shekshavali Achari, Alampur Market Yard Chairman Doddappa, Vice Chairman Pacharla Kumar, Mandal Congress President Uttanur Jayanna, and senior leaders Devender and Pandurang, attended the condolence event, paying floral tributes to the deceased.
