Former Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, who resigned from the BRS party, has joined the Congress party in the presence of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and other top Congress leaders in Hyderabad. Tummala had remained silent after being denied the Palair constituency ticket by BRS, but he openly stated that he will be contesting in the Palair Assembly in the upcoming polls. He was invited by Congress leaders and welcomed into the party. After a month of contemplation, he officially joined the Congress party on Saturday.

Tummala’s decision to join the Congress party came before the CWC meetings and Sonia Gandhi’s public meeting in Hyderabad. His entry has strengthened the Congress party in the state.
