The Congress party believes that the upcoming Assembly elections will be the most expensive in the last ten years. They need to come up with a good strategy to face the challenges from the BRS. They want to make sure they choose strong candidates who have a good chance of winning.
TPCC president A Revanth Reddy has asked the aspirants to submit an action plan explaining their strategy to win the elections. The final decision on candidates will be made by a three-member steering committee led by Congress senior leader Muralidharan.
The TPCC chief is holding meetings with ticket aspirants from over 60 assembly constituencies where both the ruling BRS and Congress are equally strong. Finding strong candidates in these constituencies is a big challenge for the TPCC.
For example, Patel Ramesh Reddy and former minister R Damodar Reddy are both vying for a ticket from the Suryapet Assembly segment. The party wants to be sure of their chances of winning before making a decision.
The TPCC is also working on campaign strategies to expose the failures of the ruling party and the sitting MLAs. They will highlight the points from the action plans of the selected candidates.
One major problem for the TPCC is raising funds for election expenses. As an opposition party, they feel it will be difficult to match the financial power of the ruling party. They are exploring various options to raise funds, but the burden may fall on the aspirants.
