Hyderabad: The Congress is expected to announce new party and corporation roles soon, likely before the New Year. This has sparked interest among leaders eager to see who will be chosen for these positions.
Many roles in the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), such as working presidents and secretaries, are currently open. The party is deciding whether to use names suggested four months ago or consult the new District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents for fresh recommendations.
Party insiders revealed that teams, including party observers and former DCC presidents, had submitted names from all 119 Assembly constituencies four months back. With new presidents now appointed, it’s unclear if these lists will be used or changed.
A senior leader mentioned that the final say lies with AICC in-charge general secretary Meenakshi Natarajan, in coordination with Delhi’s top leadership.
Many leaders are waiting anxiously for appointments. Some are unhappy, feeling the allocation of roles has been unfair. Certain leaders have multiple roles, while others have none, causing dissatisfaction.
One leader highlighted that giving many roles to a single person can demoralize grassroots workers. He suggested the party should adopt a “one leader, one position” policy to boost participation and morale.
He believes this approach will enhance the party’s future by involving more leaders and motivating them to contribute actively.
