Hyderabad: The Congress party is organizing a public gathering on July 14 to start distributing new ration cards. They plan to invite either Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, or Priyanka Gandhi, the AICC general secretary, to the event. Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced on Monday that the ration card distribution would begin this month in Tungaturthy, Suryapet district, aiming to provide food security to more families.
During a document distribution event for Indiramma houses in Nagarkurnool district, Ponguleti mentioned that eligible beneficiaries would receive ration cards starting July 14. He criticized the previous BRS government for issuing ration cards only in by-election areas and neglecting other regions. The current government, he noted, is also providing superfine rice to all ration cardholders.
The Minister accused BRS and former Chief Minister KCR of exploiting Telangana farmers for personal benefit. He condemned their focus on the heavily funded Kaleshwaram project while ignoring unfinished projects and criticized the Banakacherla project, initiated under BRS. He assured that under the Indiramma government, they would not compromise on water rights or Telangana’s entitlements.
Ponguleti emphasized that Indiramma houses are available to all deserving poor, regardless of caste, religion, or political ties. He reassured those awaiting houses that three more distribution phases are planned.
He stated that the Indiramma government, in 18 months, is completing work left undone by the BRS in their ten-year rule. He asserted that while they are delivering on promises, the opposition is unnecessarily focusing on six guarantees.
