Hyderabad: Dr. Lokeswara Rao Sajja, a Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at STAR Hospitals and Chairman of the Sajja Heart Foundation, has joined Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society. This prestigious society, established in 1886 at Cornell University, is known for its dedication to scientific advancement and includes over 200 Nobel Laureates among its members.
Sigma Xi invites only those who have made substantial contributions to research. Dr. Sajja was recognized for his groundbreaking work in cardiovascular surgery. He led India’s first multi-centre randomized trial in cardiac surgery, the PROMOTE Patency Trial, and created a mechanical heart valve that doesn’t need long-term anticoagulation. This invention has both US and Indian patents.
Dr. Sajja expressed his gratitude, stating that joining Sigma Xi honors him and reinforces his commitment to promoting collaborative cardiovascular research globally.
