The Telangana High Court heard a petition filed by MLA T Raja Singh and 20 others on Friday. They requested the court to cancel a criminal case registered against them. Justice Kunuru Lakshman, who was handling the case, issued notices to the State government and Saifabad Sub-Inspector M Tajam Reddy, asking them to respond within two weeks.

The judge scheduled the next hearing for February 21. The petitioners want the court to cancel the proceedings recorded by the First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge in Nampally.

The case was filed against them for organizing a protest (dharna) on June 18 at the GHMC head office. They were demanding the removal of illegal constructions on nalas (drains) and the cleaning of nalas within GHMC limits. However, they did not take prior permission from the authorities and also violated Covid-19 rules that were in place at the time.
