Hyderabad Police have urged youngsters and parents to avoid midnight birthday celebrations and cake-cutting on Tank Bund, major roads, lakes and parks. Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar asked the public to celebrate in homes or safe venues instead.
The advisory followed a 2 am accident in which a six-year-old girl and a family member died on the child’s birthday. Sajjanar visited the accident spot and reviewed preventive measures with officials.
Birthday celebrations on Tank Bund are prohibited under existing rules, police said. The appeal also asks people to avoid late-night gatherings and cake-cutting in public places, where such activities can put lives at risk.
“Don’t risk precious lives for a moment of fun. Cooperate with Hyderabad City Police,” Sajjanar said.
