Warangal: CPI Telangana State Secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao has urged the Congress government to work harder to fulfill the promises it made before the Assembly elections. Speaking at the closing of a three-day State Meet in Hanumakonda on Saturday, Rao criticized the government for not fully implementing key welfare programs like Rythu Bharosa, issuing new ration cards, and providing houses to the poor.
Rao expressed concerns that the government is delaying the implementation of Rythu Bharosa, a financial assistance program for farmers, under the pretext of policy development. He acknowledged that the State is facing financial difficulties but insisted that the government must keep its promises to avoid public backlash. Rao also suggested that the government should introduce the New Record of Rights (RoR) Act only after resolving the issues in the Dharani Portal.
On a positive note, Rao praised the government for successfully implementing free bus travel for women. However, he pointed out issues with the Aarogyasri health scheme, noting that private hospitals are not cooperating with patients because the State has not cleared pending payments.
Rao further criticized the government for not fully waiving off crop loans as promised. He mentioned that while the government estimated Rs 31,000 crore for the crop loan waiver, only Rs 19,000 crore has been credited to farmers’ accounts, leaving many farmers in a difficult situation.
Reflecting on the recent Assembly Session, Rao said it was more focused on allegations and counter-allegations between the ruling and Opposition parties rather than addressing the real issues faced by the people.
The meeting was attended by several prominent leaders, including CPI National Secretaries K Narayana and Syed Azeez Pasha, as well as senior leaders Chada Venkat Reddy, P Padma, Palla Venkat Reddy, Takkalapally Srinivas Rao, Karre Bikshapathi, N Bala Mallesh, ET Narasimha, Kalavena Shankar, and Bala Narasimha.
