Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari said that the state is leading in adopting energy conservation measures. The government aims to promote energy-efficient appliances and conservation measures for public use. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to develop and implement a roadmap for reducing carbon emissions and transitioning to non-conventional energy sources. Telangana has a cumulative capacity of 6335 MW of renewable energy, making it one of the leading states in renewable energy adoption. The share of renewable energy in installed capacity is around 25 percent. The Chief Secretary directed the MD TSREDCO to propose specific locations for installing EV charging stations. Special Chief Secretary Energy Sunil Sharma requested instructions to be issued for installing solar rooftop systems in government departments, residential and commercial buildings, and linking it to building permissions in municipalities and ULBs. The meeting also discussed the formation of a committee for promoting Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) projects and Waste to Energy projects for effective management of Municipal Solid Waste in the state.
