Hyderabad: Former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya received the Mahakali Mahesh Goud Bonala Award 2025 on Thursday for his dedicated public service and strong values.
Banda Prakash, the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council, presented the award, commending Dattatreya for his integrity and commitment to society. The ceremony took place at Ravindra Bharathi during the vibrant Bonalu festival, featuring cultural performances. Dr. Vakulabharanam Krishnamohan Rao, former Chairman of the Telangana BC Commission, presided over the event.
Dattatreya expressed heartfelt thanks, noting the award’s significance as he is from Hyderabad’s Old City. He highlighted Bonalu’s celebration of feminine power and respect for women in Telangana culture. “Honoring women is my belief, and serving people is my greatest reward,” he stated.
MLC D Sravan highlighted Mahakali Mahesh‘s efforts in restoring the Sri Simhavahini temple. BC Commission Chairman Gopisetty Niranjan spoke about Bonalu’s cultural heritage in the Old City and praised contributions from Mahakali Mahesh, K Prakash, Venkat Swamy, and Lingam Munnagu. Former Minister V Srinivas Goud also acknowledged Dattatreya’s dedicated service.
Department of Language and Culture Director Mangodi Harikrishna, along with Nisha Kranti, Daivagna Sharma, Maruti Yadav, and Raghavender Gopisetty, attended the program. The event also honored distinguished journalists and public servants.
