Hyderabad welcomes thousands from the global Dawoodi Bohra community for the Ashara Mubaraka gatherings. These events are being held in the city as part of a live broadcast, centered primarily in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The gatherings occur during the first month of the Islamic calendar, Moharram, from the 10th to the 13th.
During Ashara Mubaraka, the community remembers Prophet Mohammad, his grandson Imam Husain, and his family. These events are seen as a spiritual and educational opportunity for the Dawoodi Bohras, encouraging personal growth and religious understanding.
Guided by their leader, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, participants engage in sessions aimed at strengthening their faith amidst modern challenges. The gatherings are scheduled from June 27 to July 5, 2025, at various locations including Saifee Masjid in Trimulgherry, Ezzi Masjid Complex in Chowk, Husaini Alam, and Imperial Garden.
Ammar Shakir, the program coordinator in Secunderabad, expressed gratitude for Hyderabad being chosen as a satellite center. He shared, “We’re opening our homes and hearts to about 22,000 Dawoodi Bohras from around the world.” The community is working closely with civic and government authorities to ensure a smooth event.
Other centers in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh will also host broadcasts in their local community venues. Additionally, there is an international broadcast in Colombo.
