The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has approved a plan to give free sugar to families in need. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting and aims to help underprivileged households and ensure food security.

A total of 280,290 recipients, including 68,747 National Food Security cardholders, will benefit from this policy. The proposal has been submitted to the Lieutenant Governor for approval.

The goal is to tackle food insecurity in Delhi. A cabinet meeting in July discussed and approved the idea of providing free sugar to financially disadvantaged families under the sugar subsidy program. With rising inflation and economic challenges, the plan was given the green light. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal endorsed the proposal.
