Khammam: Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Vaddiraju Ravichandra, has strongly criticized the Congress government. He said that during their 16 months in power, they have badly damaged the State’s development, especially the model villages. Speaking to The Hans India before the BRS Party’s silver jubilee celebrations on Sunday, he shared his deep disappointment with the current government’s handling of rural issues.

Ravichandra accused the Congress of ruining the ‘Gandhian Gram Swaraj’ system, which was built during former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s (KCR) ten years in office. He said KCR had successfully brought Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of local self-governance to life, along with achieving the goals of the Telangana movement.

“There is now a crisis in Telangana’s model villages,” Ravichandra said. He claimed that both the Congress at the State level and the BJP at the Centre had let down the rural population. “People are seeing their once-thriving villages crumble. They will soon teach the Delhi parties a lesson,” he warned.

Talking about the BRS silver jubilee celebrations, Ravichandra announced that a large public meeting would be held at Elkathurthy, near Warangal, on April 27, the day the party was founded. He said that the BRS stands as a protector of Telangana’s people and their welfare.

He added that the silver jubilee celebrations represent the hard-earned success of Telangana and praised KCR’s visionary leadership. Ravichandra brushed off any criticism of the celebrations, saying it reflected the natural growth of the party, which was necessary to serve the nation.

Ravichandra also warned Congress leaders not to make negative remarks about KCR. He stressed that the creation of Telangana was not an accident, but the result of KCR’s intelligence, courage, and sacrifice. KCR led the movement peacefully and overcame many political hurdles to achieve the dreams of Telangana’s people.

According to Ravichandra, Telangana became a model for development within just ten years. However, he said the Congress government has put the State back into trouble. He accused Congress of winning the election by making false promises to women and youth, such as gold, scooters, financial support, and jobs — promises that were never fulfilled.

He claimed that people have now realized their mistake and are ready to bring back the BRS in future elections. Comparing the silver jubilee celebrations to a Kumbh Mela of Telangana pride, Ravichandra called on farmers, women, and youth to attend in large numbers.

He especially invited women who feel cheated by the Congress party’s broken promises to join the event. Ravichandra urged farmers, who he said were denied a dignified life under Congress rule, to be part of the big gathering.
