Rangareddy Collector Emphasizes the Importance of Reading and Libraries

Libraries play a crucial role in transforming lives, increasing knowledge, and achieving excellence in education, said Rangareddy district Collector C. Narayan Reddy. Addressing students at Zilla Parishad High School in Padmashalipuram, Rajendranagar, the Collector urged them to develop the habit of reading books daily.

The occasion marked the inauguration of a digital library established by young philanthropist Athirai Rose. Speaking to the students, the Collector explained how reading books sharpens thinking, enhances knowledge, and helps individuals understand the world better. “The habit of reading sparks new ideas and provides logical solutions to complex problems we face in daily life,” he added.

Commending the efforts of students in government schools, the Collector expressed satisfaction with their improved performance, which, he noted, is now comparable to that of students in private institutions. He also extended his gratitude to Athirai Rose for her generous contribution in setting up the digital library, which is equipped with necessary resources to encourage regular reading habits among students.

Athirai Rose, while addressing the gathering, described libraries as “storehouses of knowledge.” She shared her vision of motivating students to read, which, in turn, equips them to become informed citizens and contribute to building a thriving society. However, she emphasized that discipline is a fundamental requirement for gaining knowledge and achieving success. “The library is well-equipped with computers and infrastructure, but students must develop self-discipline to reach their goals,” she said.

Earlier in the event, the Collector, along with Athirai Rose and other dignitaries, formally inaugurated the library by lighting a lamp. Following this, they toured the school’s digital classrooms and the computer lab, which had been previously established by the Nirman Foundation.
