Gadwal: On Wednesday, District Collector B.M. Santosh, along with local MLA Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy, visited the flood-affected villages of Chinnonipalli in Gattu Mandal and Nagar Doddi in Dharur Mandal. These villages were badly hit by heavy rains over the past week.

During a meeting with the villagers, the District Collector promised that 250 affected residents would receive compensation of Rs. 16,500 each within a week. He also encouraged displaced families to move to the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) center right away. The Collector assured that within two months, a school and an Anganwadi center would be set up at the R&R center. Basic amenities like roads, drinking water, and electricity would be restored within two days, with funds coming from the Collector’s special budget.

The Collector further promised that food, health camps, and medical care would be provided at the R&R center. He personally inspected the damaged homes in the villages and assured residents that the government was taking all necessary steps to help them. He instructed officials to speed up work at the R&R center in Nagar Doddi.

MLA Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy acknowledged that the villagers might have to make sacrifices for the project, but he emphasized that the benefits would be significant in the long term. He explained that the project would help prevent migration by providing irrigation and drinking water to Palamuru district, potentially turning it into a labor hub for the region. He also mentioned that earlier delays in Chinnonipalli’s project work were due to contractor issues, but assured that all affected farmers and residents would receive full support from the government. Over the next six months, compensation, housing, and financial assistance would be provided.
