District Collector Adarsh Surabhi has instructed officials to take immediate action to repair roads and canals damaged by the recent rains. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining good sanitation in the affected areas.

To prevent any loss of life or property due to the heavy rains in Wanaparthy district, the Collector urged officials to stay vigilant over the next two to three days. On Monday morning, he held a video conference with mandal and special officials from the Collectorate conference hall to discuss the damage caused by the rains and the urgent steps that need to be taken.

Although the district has experienced heavy rainfall, the Collector praised the efforts of the officials and staff for taking preventive measures that have, so far, prevented any loss of life. He advised everyone to remain alert for the next few days and asked them to prepare detailed reports on the damage, which should be submitted by tomorrow evening. The restoration of roads and repairs to canals should be carried out quickly, he added.

The Collector also instructed officials to identify any houses in dangerous conditions and relocate the families living in them to safer locations. Notices should be given to those in need, and action should be taken to ensure their safety. For houses that have already collapsed due to the rains, officials were directed to collect applications for compensation, take on-site GPS photos, and submit proposals.

Additionally, the Collector emphasized the need for precautions to prevent the spread of seasonal diseases due to the rains. He suggested organizing “dry day” programs twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. People should also be educated about sanitation, the importance of heating and cooling water, and safe drinking practices.

In preparation for local elections, the draft electoral roll should be placed in all Gram Panchayat buildings on September 6th. The ward-wise electoral roll has been prepared, and its distribution is scheduled to take place on that day. The Collector recommended holding a meeting with political party representatives at the mandal level on September 10th to explain the electoral roll.

Additional Collector Local Bodies Sanchit Gangwar, Additional Collector Revenue M. Nagesh, RDO Padmavathi, Special Officers, Tehsildars, MPDOs, MPOs, and others participated in the meeting.
