Hyderabad: The Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, M Dana Kishore, has issued an urgent directive to the Telangana branch of NAREDCO (National Real Estate Development Council). On Sunday, he called on member builders and developers to take immediate steps to ensure the safety of construction workers.
Dana Kishore, along with senior official S Devender Reddy, advised real estate developers to relocate any worker camps that are currently situated in cellars or low-lying areas. This is to prevent potential flooding and submersion due to the ongoing heavy rains. The officials warned that the rains have increased the risks of structural issues such as wall collapses, soil erosion, and landslides.
As a precautionary measure, they suggested moving workers away from retaining walls and the edges of excavated areas. Furthermore, NAREDCO Telangana stressed the importance of ensuring that workers have access to adequate shelter and essential supplies, including food, during this disruptive period.
NAREDCO President Vijaya Sai Meka reinforced the importance of these safety measures. He stated, “The safety of our workers is our top priority. We strongly encourage all members to adhere to these guidelines and take prompt action to prevent any potential accidents or incidents during this challenging weather.”
