District Collector Visits Paddy Center in Gadwal, Ensures Farmers Are Paid Quickly

Gadwal: On Wednesday, the Collector visited a paddy buying center in Gurram Gadda Dweep village, Gadwal Mandal. He checked the dried paddy brought by farmers.

The Collector told officials to purchase paddy with up to 17% moisture at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and move it quickly to rice mills. He stressed the importance of speeding up this process.

He also insisted that online registrations be completed quickly for farmers to receive timely payments.

Collector Santosh shared that paddy procurement in the district has increased significantly compared to past years. So far, 90,000 metric tonnes have been bought, with ₹100 crore directly sent to the bank accounts of 10,500 farmers.

He mentioned that 90% of procurement is done, and payments are processed within 48 hours of purchase. For the remaining 10%, paddy will be weighed and sent to mills in three days.

He highlighted a huge growth in procurement this year. Last Rabi season, only 3,000 tonnes were bought, but this year saw an impressive 90,000 metric tonnes, marking a massive 3,000% increase.

Even with the ongoing rain, the Collector praised district officials for managing efficient paddy procurement without troubling farmers.

Attendees included District Civil Supplies Officer Swami Kumar, Manager Vimala, APD Narasimhulu, other officials, and several farmers.

This visit underlines the government’s dedication to supporting agriculture and ensuring farmers receive their payments promptly and smoothly.
