Karimnagar: On Saturday, Karimnagar Zonal Hospital hosted a visual awareness event for World No Tobacco Day. Dr. AV Girisimharao, a senior medical officer, led the initiative.
Dr. Girisimharao highlighted the growing tobacco use in forms like cigarettes, beedis, gutka, and pan masala. He noted this trend affects not only youth but also some working professionals. Many mistakenly believe tobacco relieves stress or aids in staying awake, which is false.
He cautioned that regular tobacco use could cause severe health issues such as early heart attacks, lung cancer, leg ulcers, and vision loss.
He encouraged individuals to quit these harmful habits and engage in positive, productive activities.
