    Karimnagar: A protest was held at the district collectorate on Saturday against the terrible crime of rape and murder of a medical post-graduate student at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal.

    Around 1,200 people, including private and government doctors, post-graduates, interns, medical students, paramedical staff, nurses, nursing students, medical representatives, advocates, and teachers, participated in the protest.

    The protest was led by IMA president Dr. Polasa Ramkiran and secretary Dr. Gangum Venkatreddy. It lasted for more than two hours. The protesters demanded that the culprits be arrested and given strict punishment without any delay or political interference.

    During the protest, hospitals were closed, and all medical services were halted for 24 hours, except for emergency services. As a result, hospitals in Karimnagar appeared deserted, and medical services were also stopped at dispensaries.
