Women and girls visiting three major temples in Uttarakhand must adhere to a dress code, according to Mahanirvani Akhara. Secretary Shrimahant Ravindra Puri explained that short clothes are not allowed at the Daksh Prajapati Temple, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, and Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple. The Akhara has asked visitors to wear clothing in keeping with Indian tradition, covering at least 80% of their bodies. Puri added that the temples are places for introspection rather than entertainment. The dress code is already in place at temples in South India and Maharashtra.
