Restoration works will soon begin on the Golden Threshold in Hyderabad, as an architect has been appointed for the project. This long-awaited project aims to transform the historic structure into a symbol of architectural excellence and a cultural hub.
The Golden Threshold complex houses three distinct architectural gems: the Golden Threshold structure, Gopal Clinic, and the Centre for Distance Learning. While the latter is a newer addition, the former two are timeless relics that hold historical significance. However, these structures have suffered over time and require delicate restoration by archaeologists and conservation specialists. The goal is to preserve their rich heritage for future generations.
Located in Hyderabad, the Golden Threshold is a testament to history, nationalism, and India’s cultural heritage. It was gifted to the nation by the renowned Naidu family and has served as a place of academic excellence since 1975. In 2019, the Rajkumari Indira Devi Hall was inaugurated in the building.
Anuradha Reddy, Convenor of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) in Hyderabad, has provided inspection reports and guidance for the project.

Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar of the University of Hyderabad (UoH), has confirmed that the restoration work is in progress according to heritage building standards. The university has appointed an architect and formed a committee to oversee the project. Due to the meticulous nature of restoration work, there is no specific timeline for its completion. Currently, entry into the building is restricted.
