In Hyderabad, opposition parties have raised concerns about possible election code violations by the Congress government. Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy is awaiting guidance from the Election Commission of India (ECI) on how to handle these issues.
Both the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have filed complaints. The BRS is upset about promises made by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to film workers, while the BJP is against the planned inclusion of former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin in the Cabinet. They argue that these actions break the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
Sudarshan Reddy confirmed receiving these complaints. He has asked the ECI to determine if the swearing-in event is an MCC violation and to advise on the promises made to film workers. Reddy expects a response from the ECI by tonight or Friday, after which they will decide on the next steps.
The swearing-in ceremony for Mohammad Azharuddin is set for 12:15 PM on Friday at Raj Bhavan. Invitations have been sent out to Cabinet Ministers and other important guests.
