New Delhi/Hyderabad: On Thursday, election officials in Delhi sent a notice to Kota Neelima, the wife of Congress leader Pawan Khera. She is accused of being registered to vote in more than one constituency, including one in Telangana.
Neither Neelima, who also holds a leadership role in Telangana, nor her husband has responded to the notice. The electoral officer of the New Delhi assembly constituency posted the notice on social media platform X.
Earlier, Khera received a notice on Tuesday because he was registered to vote in both the New Delhi and Jangpura constituencies. Neelima’s notice states she is registered as a voter in the New Delhi constituency and Khairatabad in Telangana. She has until 11 a.m. on September 10 to respond.
The notice stated, “You have been registered in more than one constituency’s electoral roll. Being enrolled in multiple constituencies is a criminal offense under the Representation of People Act, 1950. Please explain why action should not be taken against you under this Act.”
On Wednesday, the BJP claimed Neelima has two active voter ID cards. The party also accused Rahul Gandhi of being unable to distance himself from these “criminal acts” within his party.
