Hyderabad: The Nampally Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court has sent Ambedkar Erugu, an Assistant Divisional Engineer in the Electricity Department, to jail for 14 days. He is suspected of having wealth beyond his known income. After appearing in court on Wednesday, he was taken to Chanchalguda jail.
On Tuesday, ACB officials searched 15 places related to Ambedkar Erugu and his family. They found Rs 2.18 crore in cash at one location. The search also uncovered a flat in Serilingampally, a building in Gachibowli, a company named Amthar Chemicals on 10 acres, six residential plots in Hyderabad, a farm, and two cars. Gold items and bank deposits of Rs 78 lakh were also discovered.
The investigation showed that he used his position to gather these assets. The raids continue, and the true market value of the assets is likely much higher. Following these discoveries, Ambedkar Erugu was arrested and brought before the court, which ordered his 14-day custody.
