Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has upgraded its Tarnaka Hospital to provide better medical care for its employees. The hospital now has a 12-bed emergency care unit and a new Cath Lab for heart disease treatment. These new services were officially launched on Friday by TGSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar.
The Cath Lab was set up in collaboration with the Facts Foundation, and Ashok Leyland helped fund the hospital’s Critical Cardiac Care Unit. Meanwhile, the Emergency Care Unit was improved with financial help from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) through the Nirman.org initiative.
Sajjanar stated that employees are the backbone of TGSRTC, and their health is a top priority. He said Tarnaka Hospital has now become a super specialty hospital, offering top-quality services similar to those in private hospitals. He also mentioned that the number of outpatients at the hospital has grown from 600 in 2021 to about 2,000 per day now.
He thanked the teams from IOCL, Facts Foundation, and Ashok Leyland for supporting the hospital’s upgrades. The hospital now also has advanced MRI and CT scan machines, a 24-hour pharmacy, an emergency ward, and a physiotherapy unit. With these additions, the hospital offers a full range of medical services.
As part of a health initiative called the Grand Health Challenge, medical check-ups were done for employees and their spouses. This effort helped identify serious health issues in 900 individuals, who then received life-saving treatment at the hospital. Sajjanar said the organisation plans to use technology to improve healthcare and is working on launching more health programs for its staff.
Other officials present at the event included TGSRTC Executive Directors Munishekhar and Venkanna, Hospital Superintendent Dr Shailaja Murthy, and representatives from IOCL, Nirman.org, Facts Foundation, and Ashok Leyland.
