Speculation is swirling in political circles in Warangal about whether former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao will join the Congress or stay loyal to the BRS. Sources say Errabelli is unsure about which path to choose.
It’s unclear if Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is willing to welcome Errabelli, given their strained relationship since the cash-for-vote scandal. However, for the party’s greater good, Revanth has reportedly agreed to bring Errabelli into the Congress.
Errabelli switched from the Telugu Desam to the BRS after the scandal and became a minister in the KCR government’s second term. He suffered his first electoral defeat in 2023 in the Palakurthi constituency.
Rumors about Errabelli’s political future began circulating after the BRS lost its identity in the Lok Sabha following the recent general elections. While Errabelli initially denied plans to switch parties, there is speculation that he will join the Congress. Despite some Congress leaders holding discussions with Errabelli, he has not revealed his intentions yet.
Meanwhile, the Congress aims to weaken the BRS further in the Warangal district. The party hopes to attract more important leaders with Errabelli’s help, potentially undermining the BRS. Notably, Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, who switched from the BRS to the Congress, successfully helped elect his daughter Kavya as the Warangal MP in the recent elections.
