Hyderabad witnessed a thrilling night in Indian high school sports as Excellencia claimed a historic win against defending champions Guadium in the Varsity Football Championship Final. The match took place on Monday at Deccan Arena, attracting nearly 1,000 enthusiastic fans, including students, parents, and alumni, who experienced a remarkable football event.
Guadium started strong, controlling the game and launching numerous attacks on Excellencia’s goal. However, Excellencia’s defense stood firm, keeping the score 0-0 by halftime. During the break, the atmosphere turned festive with a live performance by the student band Alteria and stalls run by a student NGO offering snacks and Polaroid photo opportunities, creating a unique carnival-like experience.
After halftime, Guadium intensified their efforts with standout players like Devrath, Sujith, and Thunders showcasing their skills. Yet, Excellencia’s defense remained unbreakable. The defining moment came in the 58th minute when Nimish, the tournament’s rising star, scored a stunning goal from 30 yards out, thrilling the crowd.
