The Department of Commerce at Bhavan’s Vivekananda College recently organized a three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Research Methodology. The event, held from March 6 to March 8, 2025, was conducted in collaboration with ICSSR-SRC, Hyderabad. It was coordinated by Dr. D. Sanjeeva Rao, with Mrs. Y. Vijayalakshmi as the co-coordinator. The program aimed to help faculty members and research scholars improve their research skills.
The event started with a warm welcome from Mrs. L.V. Kamala Devi, the Convenor and Head of the Department of Commerce. A traditional lamp-lighting ceremony followed. Several distinguished guests attended, including CMA. Prof. G. Naresh Reddy, Registrar of Osmania University, and Prof. Indrakanti Sekhar, Principal of UCC&BM, OU, Hyderabad. Prof. Sriharsha Reddy, Dean of IMT, Hyderabad, was also present. During the inaugural session, Dr. GSVRK Choudhary, Principal of Bhavan’s Vivekananda College, spoke about the importance of research in fostering innovation. He encouraged faculty members to use modern research methods and technology-driven approaches.
Over the course of three days, participants attended interactive sessions on various research-related topics. These included structuring research papers, academic writing, selecting journals, and using digital resources. Experts also introduced AI tools and research management software such as Zotero and Mendeley. Additionally, sessions covered citation styles, ways to prevent plagiarism, ethical research practices, funding opportunities, and strategies for publishing research effectively.
The program concluded on March 8, 2025, with a valedictory session. The Chief Guest was Prof. Rajasekhar Bellamkonda, Senior Professor at the University of Hyderabad. Other dignitaries included Prof. B. Sudhakar Reddy, Honorary Director of ICSSR-SRC, and Prof. A. Patrick, Chairman of the Board of Studies, Department of Commerce, Osmania University. Both Dr. GSVRK Choudhary and Mrs. L.V. Kamala Devi praised the FDP for its role in improving academic excellence.
Participants appreciated the engaging discussions and hands-on learning experiences. The FDP created a collaborative and inspiring atmosphere, equipping attendees with valuable research skills. Many left feeling motivated to explore new academic opportunities with a renewed enthusiasm.
