Hyderabad: A memorial event took place in Gachibowli on Wednesday to honor the late Zubeen Garg, a renowned Indian singer who died in a scuba diving accident in Singapore. Actress Bhairavi Ardya Deka paid heartfelt tributes to the beloved artist.
Zubeen Garg was a remarkable singer with over 38,000 songs in more than 40 languages. Bhairavi expressed her sorrow, saying, “The Indian film industry has lost a true icon. This is a huge loss for music enthusiasts. Zubeen was not just a top singer but also a compassionate person who supported the needy. In Assam, people admired him like a god.”
She thanked Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for providing land to create a memorial trust in Zubeen Garg’s name to preserve his legacy. Besides his incredible singing career, Zubeen was also a music composer, producer, director, and actor, contributing significantly to Indian cinema.
In Telugu movies, Zubeen left a lasting impression with songs like “Yele Yele” from Nithiin’s Takkari, “O Bachelor” from Victory, and “Gunde Godarila” from Ram Pothineni’s Maska. These songs were opportunities given to him by the late music director Chakri.
On September 19, Zubeen traveled to Singapore for the Northeast Festival. During a scuba diving session, he encountered a tragic accident. Although taken to a hospital urgently, he passed away during treatment. His unexpected death has deeply saddened the Indian film and music community.
